I have a son who likes to stay up all night and playing video games on the Xbox 360. I’m wondering if there is some way to use the router to filter the MAC address at certain times. I want to be able to cut off a certain MAC address between 10PM and 6AM.

Is there some way to do this through the router?

I know if I set up a server I could use Active Directory to do it. But I’d rather not have to set up a server for that reason.

  1. depending on the router
    1) find the MAC address you’d like to block from Advanced -> Status -> DHCP Table then Advanced -> Configuration -> Time Schedule
    2) To create the MAC filters, browse to Advanced -> Configuration -> Firewall -> Ethernet MAC Filter

  2. Actually most routers I have encountered have that option built-in as 'Access Restriction', 'Internet Access Policy', content & service control or somewhere in the firewall settings.

    .. just to give you a few examples. Have you looked through your routers settings? I'd be surprised if it doesn't have that option, but who knows.
